Device Types
The Device Types module allows the Tenant Admin to define and manage device categories within the Smart Locker system.
A Device Type represents a classification of devices, such as:
- Laptop
- Tablet
- Scanner
- Mobile Device
- POS Machine
Grouping devices by type helps:
- Monitor stock availability
- Track usage patterns
- Identify shortages
- Manage request fulfillment efficiently
- Maintain structured inventory
Device Types Overview
The Device Types List Page displays all configured device categories.
Each device type displays:
- Name
- Description
- Device Count by Location
- In Use
- In Locker
- Pending Requests
- In Store
- Stock Status
- Actions – View / Edit / Devices
This page provides a real-time summary of device availability under each category.
Understanding Device Count by Location
Each device type shows how many devices exist in each operational state.
In Use
Devices currently assigned to employees.
In Locker
Devices physically stored inside lockers and available for pickup.
Pending Requests
Devices reserved due to active requests that are not yet completed.
In Store
Devices stored in inventory and not yet placed in lockers.
This breakdown helps the admin quickly identify:
- How many devices are actively used
- How many are ready for assignment
- How many are unavailable due to maintenance
Stock Status Definitions
The stock status indicates the current availability of devices.
Available
- Devices are available and ready for use.
Low Stock
- Device stock is low.
- Additional devices may need to be moved or replenished.
Not Available
- No devices are available.
Stock status helps monitor device availability and supports timely inventory management.
Create Device Type
Device Types must be created before devices can be assigned to them.
Steps to Create Device Type
- Click Create New.
- Enter:
- Name
- Description

Click Create.

Confirm in the popup.
After confirmation:
- The device type will be added to the list.
- Devices can now be created under this type.
Note: Device type names should be unique and descriptive.
View and Edit Device Type
To modify a device type:

Click View.

The Device Type Details page will open.

Click Edit.

Update:
- Name
- Description
-
Confirm changes.
Changes will reflect immediately across all associated devices.
Editing a device type does not affect device location or status.
Devices Under Device Type
Each device type allows viewing all associated devices.
Steps:

Click Devices under a device type.

The system displays all devices mapped to that category.
Displayed information includes:
- Device Code
- Device Name
- Current Location
This helps:
- Track distribution of a specific device category
- Identify where devices are concentrated
- Monitor maintenance trends for a specific type
